Bettina MacConnell, B.Comm, CFP®, CEA
Financial Planner
When I began my investment career with a major bank in 1985, I realized that it wasn’t what you earned but what you kept after taxes that determined whether you won the money game.
I am registered to offer mutual funds through Worldsource Financial Management Inc., the sponsoring mutual fund dealer. I obtained my Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. I worked for a major bank for nine years and dealt with investments and loans, including mortgages. I have been an independent financial planner since 1994 and earned my Certified Financial Planner® designation in 1999. I am also Level 2 Life Insurance licensed which allows me to independently survey many insurance companies for the best coverage suited to my clients’ needs. In 2016, I became a Certified Executor Advisor in order to assist my clients with their executor/executrix duties.
I have had an article published in the premiere issue of Heart: Business Journal for Women and was a financial consultant on W network’s The Smart Cookies. I have also been asked for my opinion and been quoted in articles in the Globe and Mail and Canadian Living magazine. You can find these articles by googling Bettina Schnarr on the internet.
My career focus is the study of retirement planning, financial planning strategies, such as how to make your mortgage interest tax deductible, personal insurance products and assisting small businesses with group plans. I strive to serve as my clients’ chief financial advisor. As such, I work with other professionals, such as Chartered Professional Accountants.
As an independent financial advisor, traditionally I am compensated by the financial firms whose products I recommend based on my research. Investments are tailored based on my clients’ needs.
I enjoy working with motivated individuals who have goals and work together at achieving them one step at a time.
